Have you ever lifted and smoothed your brow area while looking in the mirror? Have Zoom meetings brought extra focus to laxity in your neck and jawline? If those scenarios sound familiar, nonsurgical skin tightening treatments at our Atlanta, GA, practice produce impressive results for mild to moderate skin laxity.
38 year old patient who underwent 360 SAFElipo of her arms with bodytite skin tightening. She was bothered by the extra skin and fat in the area and didn't want the scar associated with an arm lift. She is pictured here at 3 months.
Most nonsurgical skin tightening treatments are energy-based devices that heat the skin’s deeper layers to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for firmer, smoother skin. However, not all these options are equally effective, and at Hagopian Plastic Surgery, we choose only evidence-based therapies. The treatments available at our practice, Ultherapy® and ThermiSmooth®, effectively address different patient concerns. Unlike laser skin tightening treatments, both procedures are safe for all skin types.
Meet The Team
Dr. Thomas M. Hagopian
Plastic surgery is the perfect field for Dr. Hagopian, who has a knack for fixing things and helping people. He’s a former firefighter/paramedic, and he had a business building highly sought-after custom taillights in medical school. He met his wife, Nurse Hagopian, at Emory University, and they bonded over many shared interests, including a commitment to exceptional patient care.
Nurse Hagopian is an Atlanta native, a self-identified nursing ethics nerd, and an ANCC board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. She’s passionate about studying informed consent, empowering fellow nurses to use their voices, and collaborating with people in addressing their aesthetic care needs.
Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy with focused imaging to heat targeted layers of tissue. This enables our providers to customize the treatment based on your specific needs. The thermal energy heats the tissue, triggering the body’s healing response and leading to new collagen and elastin production. What sets Ultherapy apart is that it’s cleared by the FDA to lift the neck, chin, and brow, in addition to tightening the skin and minimizing wrinkles on the décolletage. It can also deliver energy to the SMAS, a layer of tissue and muscle that is lifted during a facelift.
How Does ThermiSmooth Work?
The hand-held ThermiSmooth device transmits radiofrequency (RF) energy into the skin’s lower layer, called the dermis. The body’s response, similar to what occurs during an Ultherapy treatment, accelerates the production of new skin cells, collagen, and elastin. This transforms thin, loose, or crepey skin into firmer, smoother skin. ThermiSmooth is an excellent option for patients concerned about fine lines and wrinkles in delicate areas around the mouth and eyes.
How Long Does It Take To See Results?
Unlike a facelift or other surgical procedures that produce immediate results, the skin tightening effect of Ultherapy and ThermiSmooth treatments emerges gradually as the body responds to the procedures. This usually occurs after 2 to 3 months. You can schedule periodic treatments to maintain your results.
